How many hours a week do you play?

Right now running at a 40 hour per week kind of rate. Unsure that will continue though as work is easy right now and eve has the interesting property that time online messing around is not as essential. It's not like you are getting XP at every kill.

What timezone are you in, and what times do you normally play?

GMT-4 at the moment -- US eastern. Sometimes I play during the day, sometimes during the evening. It all depends on work.

Yes.

What is your previous MMO experience, and what names did you go by in those games?

EQ for a good number of years on Tholuxe. WoW for maybe 6 months. LOTRO for 3 months.

Nope, I've been in Eve about 40 hours in the week or so I've been playing. I'm old enough that I played Elite when it came out on the Apple II. I played Star Control II on the 3do and Homeworld on the PC. Loved them all, Eve reminds me of all of them in one way or another.

If you started a while ago, you may not have had the benefit of the learning acceleration that goes on these days. Stuff trains *fast*. (At least it seems to be for me.) I speculate they are working on player retention and realized the waiting was turning people off to the game. After the zillion tutorials, I'm doing the sisters epic arc and it's got plenty to do that's accessible. I've been able to hop in the ship and go do stuff anytime the will struck me. The biggest issue is I've had to reprioritize some ship skills I want (and count get quickly) to put learning earlier in the queue. Good advice whoever told me to get and use EveMon.

No, I'm hooked at the moment. As a measure of the addiction, I got God of War III for the PS3 the day before I started Eve. Kratos and I had really bonded and I was tearing through it (GoWIII is a great game). .... but I've not touched it since I logged Beo in for the first time.

I never played Elite, but I loved Star Control 2(played it on PC though not 3do) Loved homeworld as well, bought it the day it came out after raving over it for half a year waiting, lol.

I've been through the original tut and the current one, the current one is much much better and I agree it does get you into the game and experiencing it much faster, but I disagree that the skill trianing is quicker. They just give you more to do to keep you occupied so you don't pay attention to that aspect of the game.

Glad to hear you love it man. If you think you can't put it down then you're in for a treat man. The new "expansion" is going to feature building things on planets. I am gearing up for that right now, since I just got settled into my hulk(mining) and orca(hauler).
