    Gah, what's next? Allosaur model?

    Besides, I only use my Raptor for system files to assist in faster bootup time and access speed.

    I just got wood. Much faster and half the cost of the current Raptors.

    that drive looks amazing, the 2.5 inch size is to reduce the "wobbling" that occurs at the edge of the disk. then mounting it in a heatsink that reduces temperature by 5 deg! they really got things together over there at WD

    No way...

    Brontoraptor = 500GB model

    Stegoraptor = 300GB with extra security

    From Tom's Hardware:

    Conclusion
    Our benchmark results speak for themselves and prove that Western Digital has done the right thing from an enthusiast standpoint. The new VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS will ship in May at retail prices of approximately $300, and it is the fastest and coolest 3.5"-like hard drive you can get for desktop PCs. WE say ’3.5"-like’ because it is a 2.5" hard drive that comes pre-installed in the IcePack frame, which provides efficient cooling and easy installation in standard 3.5" drive bays. The VelociRaptor provides the quickest access time, the best transfer rates, excellent application results, amazingly low surface temperature and an acceptable noise level along with its unorthodox product name.

    Remember this logo, as it represents the currently fastest hard drive for high-end desktop PCs and enthusiasts, as well as workstations.

    I played with 2 74GB Raptor's last night and there was some speed increase but not much (raid 0)
    not worth the $$$ if you ask me, but if you have the extra then go for it.
    the noise they produced was very distracting and i noticed the specs on the 2.5 drives are the same as the older drives!

    I Think ill stick with 6 of the 640 in Raid 5 (when ever I get a spare $750 LOL)
