From a pure corporate business aspect.. I get it, greed. People will pay real life money for dominance in the virtual world of Diablo III....

What I do not get is that this ruins the game for people who choose not to use the RMAH because it inflates prices in virtual "gold" currency to an astronomical high that it is not readily available for people to purchase using game currency.

This might just be the nail in the coffin for me.

Inflation in the game was due to a number of factors primarily was some gold duping that led to items going from 10m to 200m+ in a few weeks. That coupled with peoples need to epeen overvalue the crap they sell just mixes into a whole stew of bad business for the players. It is now useless to farm gold for items and there is no way I will touch rmah with a 10 foot pole.

My prediction... emeinent game failure in the longrun. As an anniversary ed they should have rereleased d1 and d2 in the d3 engine. With all the classic game mechanics and loot tables.

D3 and RMAH is complete fail. Fuckin to many suits making games these days where it should be gamers making them instead.
Im in act 2 inferno atm and i am just totally sick of farming gold to progress. What happened farming for epic loots?! I have not found 1 piece of gear for my Barb that has dropped that i can use, all of my items that are of use are off the GAH. D3 is pay to win, plain and simple.

If you are looking for an awesome old school rpg similiar to D2 with present gaming technology, try Path of Exile. No pay to win model and it is made by a Indie company made by gamers, check it out its pretty awesome. It is also free to play.

You can support the game and get instant access to closed beta by paying $10 to $1000.
Obviously the more you help them out the more in game perks you get, nothing that gives you and advantage over others tho but there sre some kewl little perks like designing your own in game weapon ( $1000 perk ).

Have you guys actually seen this inflation you're suggesting, or is it speculation? Theoretically I did expect to see inflation in the gold market, but in practice I haven't.

Two weeks ago 200k would buy a 1h weapon in the 700-780 range. Last I checked 200k could buy a 1h weapon between 800-870 dps. This is basically in line with the trend that's occurred since the game released. It doesn't seem that the release of the RMAH has influenced it at all.

Can you point to a specific segment of the market where significant inflation has occurred?

topend weapons were going for 10-20m now... those weapons are in the 2-300m range. Thats inflation. Weapons not even near the top are boasting a 100-150m pricetag most of which hardly warrant the cost.

a 900 loh 1h in the 900 dps range used to go for 10mish same weapons are easily going for 30-50m. Quality hasnt changed just the cost. Repeat this across the board for every piece of gear. Dont look at low end weapons as you listed low end will always have low demand and thus low inflation. but even an increase of 200k on those is a 20-25% inflation. Prices are always always always an exponential curve. The curve is never different but right now that base value even for crap items has moved up at least 20-25%.

The only things that have stayed consistent are recipes. Most people dont want to gamble with making weapons.

The game is failing plain and simple. The mass gold duping caused such economic damage to the game it likely will never recover. The rmah.... well that was pure greed by the suits.

900 DPS Weapons are not top end, granted top en you will apy a premium price but 10mil plus?

With the new repair costs and my damaged getting halved (IAS Nerf and Nether Tenticle Nerf) I die more often. The repair costs are becoming painful. so with the increase in repair costs and inflation on items needed to progress (key word there) it has become slow again back to farming Act 1.

Now granted many classes are OP but the gear is needed to reach the threshold. I am not thiere yet and unless i find the gear or buy it, which i cannot afford due to inflated prices. I will not be getting anywhere anytime soon.

It just seems ass backwards that in a game where Blizzard says "You are GOING to die a lot in Inferno) they jack the prices up for repairs.

To much influence by suits IMO.

i dunno, are you guys farming correctly? i mean, its pointless to farm with less then 50 MF and 5 stacked neph valor. I usually run a lot more then that. Maybe im lucky but im sitting on nice items for my DH (60) My wizard looks good (60) and i got some awesome drops for my barb. Most of the drops did come AFTER 1.03 though. Also, get your neph stacks ASAP when starting a farm run... i get 3-5 stacks in 4minutes in act1 ALWAYs. if your interested in how, ask me in vent or friend me in game. I think sometimes people are "farming" so inefficiently that it can seem counterproductive. Since 1.03 i run act1 farm runs in about 45mins. when im sorting my gear after its said and done, i usually have 20+ yellows (about my entire inventory) And now since act1 can drop lvl 63 gear, i like my chances. This week i sold an attack speed amulet for 4million. The thing with inflated prices, just means you have to get the item instead of the gold heh. Im surprised at the direction of this post, personally im excited to make a few extra bucks playing a game i enjoy, and i agree, i wont be putting any of my money into this. I do like the idea of some kind of a return on my time though.

FRIEND ME!!!! Sycotic#1630 im almost always in vent when i play as well, so logg in and chat if you would like

That's encouraging ... I havent been able to log in since I got hit with an 11k repair bill just trying to break into ponies. With that quit/reconnect limit you can no longer zone right out if there are mobs present.

I got so sick of butcher runs, but sounds like they may be worth it over pony again? What are your average repair bills per run?

They feel much more worth it no doubt. I dont die on an average run (if im soloing) so my repair bill isnt bad. Honestly theres a better way to farm act1 besides butcher. BUUUUUT if i do end up in the red to repair, the bill is 37k. yep, that sucks. just ran it twice and got 3 rings 1 amulet (all just average unfortunately) i did manage to get some cool boots, 156dex 173str ignore durability loss 18 magic find, and 1 or 2 others some resist fillers (no all though) my demon hunter is coming along quickly!! 18 MF on any well statted item is a welcome site! hehe

Also They made act 2 easier, thought i would mention that as well. Get logged back in and you and i can farm act 2, or try and update in act3. whatever you wanted.

As a demon hunter i am unable to farm act 2, the rare mobs have way to much health for the damage that i put out now. Since 1.0.3 nether tentacle dmg was halved and being that i stacked IAS, that got halved, so until i re gear up again... its a grind all over.

You make some good points Sycotic but i always farm with 5 stacks of valour, i dont always have as much MF as i would like because of the gear i have atm ( i do team with 3 friends most of the time with MF tho and we share all the gear we find ). Maybe im just really unlucky? I just reached over 200hrs play time on my Barb, never have i found a drop worth using ( since i reached lvl 60 ), i have found 1 legendary weapon back in nightmare difficulty that was so aweful i trashed it straight away, i have yet to find another.

Im pretty close to entering act 3 however so i hope my luck changes when i have a better chance at the best drops in game.
