Now... ive not played SC since the original came out in 98 and while i enjoyed it i dont think i played it after 2000 aside from once or twice at friends houses. So... its been a while since ive been in "starcraft" shape. Starcraft 2 has therefor been a learning experience thats for sure. I basically am starting from scratch in terms of learning the races, strategies, and general gameplay since you reallllllly get rusty after 10+ years of not playing a game, not to mention SC2 is new in some ways.

But ive come across an interesting experience in my play so far. Ive been playing 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 practice league and placement league matches so far and i swear it seems like the same thing happens EVERY TIME. 1 of the 2 teams has a "pro" Protoss player who proceeds to dominate the entire game. They alone wipe out the other teams, and at the end the scoreboard shows everyone else with say (just for examples sake)... 15000 points and they are up at like 35-45 thou. They are so far above and beyond everyone else. Whichever team has that player wins automatically every time. There control and shear numbers in game is amazing. And its Protoss EVERY TIME.

So with that said.... wtf is going on. Is Protoss just so much better that all the best players go Protoss?... or am i just experiencing a strange streak of "pro" Protoss players. Because it seems like whichever team with more Protoss on it and that 1 key Protoss player will win hands down every time.

Just an observation i thought i would throw out.

Not at all.

Especially in 2v2, 3v3, 4v4. What can happen is all the armies meet. And if say your partners army arrives at the confrontation first and he soaks all the damage, while the Toss army arrives second and does all the damage. Then he gets all the points for the kills. He'll also be the one who proceeds to move onto the enemies base and kill the buildings and workers.

Point are really a pretty worthless way of looking at how someone is doing.

Really need to say did they do their role? did they participate? did they harass? or did they steal every expansion, turtle, and make 200/200 chargelots against broodlords.

Plus, practice league and placements isn't really a good place to learn ANYTHING. I mean, which race is strongest, which strats work. Because, they're practice and placements!

On a side note Practice league games are played on a slower map speed and have rocks blocking the entrance to your base on every map. Not a good place to learn anything.

Nah, I have lost as toss many times, and been on toss heavy teams and loss. I think you have just ran into a strange coincodince or some better toss players playing in practice league just to woop on noobs.

If your having trouble with protoss id suggest countering their troop build. If they go heavy zealots, cutt off your choke point and bunker down, or rush air units. If they go stalkers Mass units can be effective, since stalkers only target 1 target at a time, 50 zergling verse 20 stalker, the zergling will win. Im in platnium leagues in 2v2,3v3,4v4, and i wouldnt say any one race is completely dominate. It all comes down to whos more aggressive, and who can counter the oposing strat. I for one, dont go into any match knowing what ill be building, that decision comes after ive scouted.

Omg... one of the most epic games ever. The whole second half was funny as hell but the ending was pure magic.

Lol...that was hilarious, although it was kinda telegraphed by the fact he still had a drone+25minerals ;p

As if this wasn't already an epic outcome, one detail that makes it just that much more special:

YouTube- HD Starcraft 2 TT1 v MasterAsia p2/4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aLBqeKd_lk&feature=related)

Watch at 6:52. MasterAsia had pulled all of his drones off the mineral line and they were about to get wiped. He had 24 minerals at that time.... he sends in 1 drone to collect 5 more resources to put him at 29. Without that one extra mineral he would not have been able to pull off the ending to this match.

It makes me wonder if he knew what he was doing or if it was just by chance that he decided to get that extra mineral.

I suspect he didn't have the specific outcome in mind, but suspected it might turn base raceish and figured the ability to throw up an extractor can be handy in such cases.

Ahh, I didn't notice that. That is exactly what he was thinking. Just needed one drone to get that extra 5 resources.
