the car in this vid is pretty much identical to mine only mine has super black tinted windows and my dash is not pulled apart like the one in the vid :p

The exhaust will be very similar to the one in the vid.
I will be adding a new turbo, intercooler, and doing a reflash to the computer soon as well.

cars with similar mods run 330-350 Horsepower to the rear wheels on the Dyno.
(add 20-25% to that number to get engine HP...so would be around 400hp or more at the engine)

I will post more pics once I have some more progress...

I had a Hyundai Sonata GLS 5 years ago that was a PoS...I paid somewhere around $2500 in repairs in one year (Had to replace all wheel bearings, the stupid wiper motor, and a bunch of other crap). Are these newer cars better put together? :P The Genesis there looks pretty cool and sounds clean, granted it did get some new lungs

ya Hyundai is rated in the top 4 now for quality right behind Lexus, Porsche, and Cadillac.
Following in the rankings are Porsche, Cadillac (which moves from 10th rank position in 2008 to third in 2009), Hyundai (improves from 13th rank position in 2008 to fourth in 2009) and Honda, rounding out the top five.

check it out (http://www.jdpower.com/autos/articles/2009-Initial-Quality-Study-Results)

They also said that the new Genesis seems to perform nicely for a new car as well.....

The study finds that initial quality for newly launched and redesigned models in 2009 has improved compared with previous years. Historically, all-new models have typically launched with below-average levels of initial quality. However, several all-new models in 2009, including the Hyundai Genesis, Kia Borrego, Toyota Venza and Volkswagen CC, perform considerably better than their respective segment averages.

ya...I was impressed by the improvement.
It was one of the reasons why I decided to go with this car.
last thing I want is a lemon.....I have had my share of them in the past...mostly from domestic brands...and Toyota. The Toyota was a POS that I wanted to drive to the dealership and set it on fire.

I must say that that is a kool looking car. It's almost hard to believe that they have gotten so much better from when they first started bringing cars over to North America.

Nice Genesis. I would have went with the 3.8 V6 personally and either supercharged or turbo'd that. The guys I promote have a genesis sc'd and a turbo's one, the turbo sitting at around 480 HP and the sc'd at about 440 HP if I remember. I have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon I've done a lot to. I'm gonan be dropping a stage 2 supercharger with ECU reflash in it soon, just waiting for it to get here and with only 8 lbs of boost I'll be sittin at 270-300 HP. Upgraded headers/downpipe waiting to be put in. I'm also getting custom exhaust done to be centered like a new corvette but I'll have 2 exhaust tips, not 4. New front bumper coming for it too.

Check these guys out phat>> www.seoulfulracing.com

Here's and old pic of mine(no more windshield sticker and I got a new wing than the one in the pic).

nice ride man!
I bought the 2.0t for the sole purpose of modding it.
The V6 from what I read is not handling turbo/superchargers very reliably.
Yes the v6 has 300 out of the chute......but with some simple mods the 2.0T will handle 400HP more reliably from what I have read.
either way.....its gonna be fun!!

I have been to seoulfulracing.com before, they have some nice stuff.
I plan on replacing the factory Hyundai badges with the G-Coupe wing badges (front, back, and steering wheel) (http://www.kdmstuff.com/shop/step1.php?number=3021).

importshark.com has a nicer set....I may go with that one. (http://www.importshark.com/allperformance/details.php?image_id=471)

I am also going to black out my tail lights....the end result will look like this vid.
the g-coupe emblem with the blacked out look.

Well being a girl, I am aware of how some guys, until they get to know me, feel about my automotive opinions. But since 15 I have worked at dealers off and on, mostly on, in the parts dept.
Foreign or domestic, dont care what anyone says, there are cars built on a Monday morning in every factory, there will always be good ones and lemons. The reason foreign cars have a percieved quality edge has been they have been way smarter on required maint. Honda, for example in say 2000 required you to spend way more money on maint than a similar chev or ford. I dont care what kind of car it is, if you spend 5 times on maint.( dont do it and see if you still get warranty) its prolly going to be in better shape after 200k of driving. The domestics are finally catching up on this.
Now in my own opinion,( although I can blame my dad for a lot of it.. lol). I like to spend my money as close to home as possible. Now I have heard two most popular pro foreign cries. They are build here.. head office is still in another country, more money is going off shore than if you bought a domestic. Next is "I bought it used, not new" well if people werent willing to buy them used, the resale wouldnt be as good and less people would buy them new. But the foreign car required maint was a brilliant idea.
But as I said.. thats just my own opinion, and its a semi-free county and we can all do what we fell is right. I just prefer to "try" and keep my money as close to home as I can, especially with the economy the way it is and people being laid off.
Flame away.. lol.. nah.. as I said..its my opinion, trust me, everything I do, or have done, isnt right for everyone.
Phat, it is a nice looking car though, I like the style of it.

I agree with ya missbehave. I personally am a FORD fanatic. I also have a S10 I got from Grandpa that I drive to work and hate having to work on it, it's too small.

The imports are getting better as well as the domestics. To me the domestics are sticking it to us on the sticker price. A buddy of mine worked at the GM plant that makes the trucks. He said everytime they rolled out a Z71 truck the plant made about $20,000 (close figure) above the rest of the trucks. I know it takes x amount of money to make a truck, but is $20,000 per truck at the plant really needed? Then the dealers have to get their share etc, etc. All of them are charging too much. Hell, furniture has at least a 200% to 400% mark up on everything. It's rediculous.

Very nice phat. I still got a lot of work to do to mine, Ill be completely replacing the egnine block and all the internals rated for 400+ HP. When I'm done withthe car I plan to be in the 400-430 HP range. Seoulful's demo tibby is a 427 HP daily driver that shoots fireballs out the tailpipes so... haha, im sure I can manage 400 after a new block/internals and a stage 3 upgrade on the supercharger. The bottom end is all set to go (stage 3 clutch, flywheel, etc.)

To shots: My stepdad is a ford fanatic as well. Yes, you are correct about the profit they are making. Here is a basic example: Let's say a new car called the "Cypher" is put into production. The car cost $8,500 to produce. They will sell it MSRP for $16,000-$18,000. Thats how all cars are. They cost less than half the MSRP to produce but the manufacture wants as much cash as possible, as well as the dealers.

I will have to look and find a pic to scan of dads car, I stil call it dads car.. its mine now. He had this car for years, it was his other "baby". When he couldnt find a sitter or didnt want to pay for one, he made me go out to the garage with him, so I spent a lot of time, learning about and working on it.
Will race it against almost any foreign car within 5 years its age.. hehe. Dont drive it much more than a few times a year now, hoping to get it repainted in the next year or 2.

I used to drive a 1971 Olds Cutlass Supreme almost exactly like the one in this picture:
http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_images/2/1164/1281/15408140018_medium.jpg
It had a 4 speed manual and a 350 Rocket....was a fun car!
I sold it and the very next day the guy was doing doughnuts on the highway and nailed a truck with a monster bumper....total wreck :(

My next car was a Dodge Coronet Diplomat coupe....much like this one:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c0/1951_Dodge_Coronet_coupe.jpg
I was restoring it and ran out of money.
The kewlest thing about the car was that it came with the Dodge ram on the hood.
http://www.allpar.com/images/logos/ram-ornament.jpg

My next project car was a 1992 Dodge daytona IROC RT
http://px6.streetfire.net/0001/93/28/1673982_600.jpg
They only made 800 RT edition cars with a Lotus Turbo motor.
I ended up putting about $11,000.00 into the engine with Lotus performance parts and had a car that was 300WHP and only weighed in at 2700 pounds.
Power to weight ratio was good so it was a fast car for its day.
It would pull a 12.8 quarter mile with street tires.
It was a fun sleeper.....but because the engine was pushed as much as it was I went through 3 heads!!!

So I am finally back into a project car again with the Genesis coupe....woot!!
traded in the family van for it and I dont miss the van :p

My car may be in the tuner class, but it sounds pretty nasty. It doesn't sound ricer at all tbh, sounds a little muscle car like. People always say my engine sounds louder than the actual exhaust does, lol.

More so than people would think, you can slide way easier on dirt cuz of less traction, then you hit the pavement and you grip a little more. Same thing as in winter, i love power sliding my car but then you hit a spot with a little less snow and it grabs.... /enddrift
