Ok i play SWG, and im having problems with lag. So i have gathered some information that may explain some of it.

1. I live in Scotland

2. My computer specs arent so great:
Processor: AMD Anthlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
Memory: 959MB RAM
Graphics card: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series, 256 MB Memory
Drivers: Main Driver: ai2dvag.dll.

Is my computer crappy or what?

Anyways what i really came here to ask is, is there any way to wipe my computer of all this useless stuff i have? I mean i have like 50 programs, and i use about 10 of them, so im guessing this is causing lag issues too.

Any help short of telling me to upgrade my computer would be glady taken. :P

1. You live in Scotland

2. Your computer is wicked slow. 2.2 MHZ isn't too bad but can be a bunch better. Your graphics card is a bigger problem. 256MB RAM is not the best and is probably your biggest cause. I run 768 MB and I still get a little lag.

3. You live in Scotland

4. You can do a clean install of windows and it will wipe everything. I recommend backing up your entire SWG folder and any other items you don't want lost.

5. Did I mention you live in Scotland.

Good luck buddy.

That comp was good ....

I would seriously save up $1000 and upgrade the entire package. You can find good low end parts for almost next to nothing cost wise.

Wow my computer is almost like yours..

Its an AMD Athlon XP 2600 I think I have it set to 133mhz
1.5 gigs of ram
Ati Radeon 9700 256meg vid card. I usually get ok frame rates

You are complaining about lag issues which could be because you are located in Scotland.

Do you have high speed internet if so what is your plan how many up/down

I would say its a combo of living in Scotland and your graphics card.

I want to upgrade my video card but its to costly.. Because didnt SLI replace AGP... as AGP replaced PCI then they came out with PCI-E

not exactly

AGP, PCI, and PCI-E are the names given for the plug in slot on your mobo for the vid card. Their order of invention are correct as you described PCI -> AGP -> PCI-E

SLI refers to combining multiple Nvidia cards(usually 2) to produce the image on your screen. Each card then has a reduced amount of work it needs to compute to get you the graphics you want. You basically double your graphics processing power with smaller/older cards to increase your performance.

Crossfire = ATI's version of Nvidia's SLI so re-read SLI for its definition :P

SLI is actually an old technology reborn from old PCI cards before AGP.

AGP made it near impossible to incorporate additional display devices, whereas PCI can have several. SLI just coordinates the process of multiple GPU's doing the same job simultaneously.
