So i got the E8400 as Bal had reccomended, and it came today. Went to install it, and of course it didnt work!
I have an ASUS P5LD2 Board, and the intel E8400. EVGA8800 GT, 4GB of DDR2 RAM.
the error is INTEL CPU uCode Loading error, so as of now i am computerless except for my laptop :(
I also updated and flashed the bios to the most recent version.

Quick question, when you updated the BIOS did it actually update? Does it show the correct version that you updated to?
The error you are getting means that the motherboard doesn't recognize the CPU.

Also, do you just have the plain Asus P5LD2 motherboard? Not the Deluxe, X/1333, VM or other versions?
Checking on Asus' site, it doesn't look like the plain P5LD2 supports the E8400 CPU.

i believe it updated, and yes it is the regular P5LD2. the box says it supports core two duo, and i even asked the newegg guy, bah. Not seeing it on asus site though been a long day. Was gonna try resetting the CMOS tomorrow.
EDIT : Think i know the problem the newegg guy missed. Its a 65nm board, and a 45nm processor(should of caught it myself, i know bad me stfu :( ) . Anyone know where newegg HQ is so i can crack some skulls?

Legslat,
Sorry to hear that man. When you swap out your mobo you will see why I recommended it. You can overclock to 3.6 with the factory heatsink/fan. It is a beat to say the least. As for cracking skulls, save that for ingame :guns:

Hi,
The P5Ld2 doesn't support the 45nm chips :(
I'm sorry, dude. If you can, buy a cheaper gigabyte p965-ds3l. It has no raid but it's the 965 chipset, which after a legit bios flash from gigabyte, gives you unofficial but full support for 45nm quads. My friend got his for 50 bucks.
