Well...Good to be back folks. After a good year away from the game, I feel totally lost (especially after CU). Thanks again to everyone who was kind enough to get me situated last night, try out some group space combat, etc. I really had a good time.

I'm going to keep tinkering with my Tie Fighter in JTL as I figure out what I want to play. Here are some of my options, so tell me what you think you'd like to have with you in a group setting:

MCM / Master Doc
MCM / TKA (I hear its nice in that you can tank and still heal the team. No dead medic is a good thing)
MCM / Pistoleer
Master Doc / Dancer / Maybe a bit of pistol

And of course I'm curious about going Jedi at some point. How is that? I think Cy mentioned he was one now. Little dark force never hurt anyone...well, other than rebels :)

MCM/Doc might be a bit much on the heals and not enough on surviving. You can't get XP unless you are in combat, but with no real combat skills, you wont last long at all.

If you do TKm, make sure you have a looping macro with CoB running. TKMs have almost no offense, and without CoB, not much in the way of defense. Any ranged with CM is good. Dancer? well, you would certainly be rare. Dancers are in limbo at the moment as devs try to figure out what they are really supposed to be doing in the game now. Sure they heal BF, but aside from that...the XP buffs are okay I guess.

Yeah I read about the CoB thing on the forums as well.

I guess one question is, if I should choose to pursue jedi later, will any of the professions gimp me. If I go TKA/MCM would that be more difficult than say MCM/Pistoleer.

What did they do to dancers?

If you do TKm, make sure you have a looping macro with CoB running. TKMs have almost no offense, and without CoB, not much in the way of defense. Any ranged with CM is good. Dancer? well, you would certainly be rare. Dancers are in limbo at the moment as devs try to figure out what they are really supposed to be doing in the game now. as for dancers, they removed the mind pool. No mind wounds, no mind buffs. Just battle fatigue. Then they gave all dancers the ability to do the new mind buffs that give a bonus to XP and Fpgain, but they didnt make the buffs better as you go up the lvls, just made them quicker to give.

Gotcha. So down to MCM / TKM or Pistoleer. Hrrrrm...

I'll have to learn how all this stuff works. I haven't found where to get basic missions yet and I haven't found any groups with strangers.

I'm up to Equip and Astromech I in my Imperial Navy Pilot tree at least. :)

Just about any combat profession seems to be okay on the progression to jedi now.

How are TKMs? I like the idea of being able to soak up damage without having to wear heavy armor. I'll admit though I'd like to be CAPABLE of doing some fighting even if I'm not brilliant at it. I figured I could get some of my kicks from poisoning stuff with CM

What kind of armor can Pistoleers wear? I'm VERY confused by how armor/weapons work now. Thank God Pilot makes some sense to me at least :)

if you check nov pistoleer it should say which one it allows

mcm also allows an armor type i believe, so you might ahve a choice between 2 diff armor types or just 1

TKM isn't bad defensive wise as stated, but its pretty cruddy offensive wise

not sure about pistoleer

but i did recommend you o mcm and either rifleman or carbineer, both of those are pretty good and handy in a group hunt

TK allows no armour, MCM and doc allows battle armour and pistols is recon armour. if you want to do MCM/doc i had jhra as a MCM/BH/doc for a while and seemed very effective. It was MCM doc 040O and BH 0444 i think. So in pvp wise you can posion etc but also cure posions and bh gives great moves and defesenes. Jhra still has her gear some were for it.

Yes dancer is a bit nerfed really. I have jhra with novice dancer to help heal with bf and give inspreation buffs ie a extra 10% of xp.
