Heyas folks,

I have a few questions about AoC if you will.

First off, a bit of background; I played etrex and abby in BoTS on EQ for couple years. That was some time ago. Got married, retired from eq. Currently I am 2k miles from home on a 3.5 year contract. Nothing to do cept work and play. I been playing WoW for about a year and I've decided to leave WoW before I loose my mind. I've played necro in eq as my main. A holy priest in WoW as my main.

Okay. I've not played AoC beta so zero hands on experience there; however, I catch on quickly. I just ordered the superduper AoC box set from gamestop so i'm there for when it goes live. I enjoy the support role in games. Necro was mana battery first, dps'er 2nd, master of solo'ing in eq. Holy priest is a healer in WoW.

I need your expert advice as to what class / race combo for primary support class for AoC please. I've read up all the class / race combo's etc. I understand support class will need to group to level; however, i'm looking towards raiding, that's why I play. Which classes Must be added to raids for: buffs, slow's, cures, mezz'es, heals etc. Which is a Must have. I want to play the raid class to support, advance and in a small way improve chances to beat an event. I don't need to have the big dps numbers, the big heal numbers etc, I don't care about such things. I enjoy seeing same players every night and be first to see and conquer content.

Sorry for the rambling. Just got home from a Long work day and must'of had 5 pots of coffee =/.

Any advice will be great :).

Thanks,
etrex

Etrex, welcome to the forums and good question.

The truth be told, they are still balancing the classes a bit in beta, and stats are very sparse atm because the NDA is still in effect. So any advice you get is subject to change quite a bit in the next couple months.

Ten Ton Hammer has some great interviews on the different classes...I would start there. Then hop on Vent and talk to people about what they are thinking.

From what I know so far, you cannot go wrong with any of the support classes. AoC has a hybrid system and each is going to have many benefits. We can definitely use more experienced people in a support role so you will be welcomed.

Best advice I have is readup on the classes and pick the one that looks the most fun to you.

Yep i've been reading a great deal on PoM. I see: AoE heals, AoE snare, AoE stunn, AoE KD, AoE Fear, AoE blind, that's alot of AoE's. Is there massive healing aggro in AoC? Also, AoE's in other games are useless in raiding except buffs.

I also noticed that the only heal that works out of group is the cone healing. 120 degree cone in front of the priest. So for instance: 24 man raid, only PoM's group gets the hp buff and AoE heals only hit the group except the cone healing which hits everyone in the cone area

I can't find the duration of the AoE CC or the cooldown. Is the AoE cc's on the same gcd?

edited to add: I can see the cc's being valueable in pvp'ing. However, that may make the PoM's the target of focus to burn down. Being squishy means laying face down for most pvp battles. Also, the cc will be effective as long as every other class doesn't get x1000 ways of breaking the cc or becoming immune.

Dang, think I will jump onto chat and pick their brains.

Boo priest of mitra! thats my class and I don't take kindly to competition to my loots! ;-)

My short summary of the 3 healing classes.

Tempest of set:
- AOE dmg
- Mana regen
- more dmg = better heals

Bear Shamman:
- melee dmg
- more dmg = better heals

Priest of Mitra:
- Crowd control
- more heals = better dmg

Wow'sa

Priest + enchanter = more grey hairs, sounds like fun :)

As far as loots, i've learned..all it takes is time and crazy insane like minded players.
