View Full Version : Conan rumored to have over 80fps :o
They released some new information recently about how their coders were able to do some amazing things with their new engine. It has been reported that AoC will be running 80fps or higher. I have even seen posts that it might be up to 120fps which will allow a lot to happen during 500-800person seiges which has been stress tested to bring the fps down to the 30's but so far even with that many players in combat at the same time they have not dipped below the 25fps mark.
lol in swg on my comp just with a 20 person battle I was at 5fps....oh wait thats not funny
Anyway things are looking really good.

How do you like it so far? What were you upgrading from?
I have a x1300 ATI 256MB right now, bought is shortly before the big boys started coming out, to my dismay.

I recently got the 8800GTS 512MB version and it rocks. I am very happy with it.

Really Xen? What were you running TR at?
I had a 7950GX2 before and it ran it fine, but I wanted to upgrade for new games.
The 8800GTS 512MB runs TR at max settings at like 90+fps at all times. It can drop down to like 50s when facing huge swarms of crap in Descent or Howling Max, but have never had it drop under 40 in any circumstance so far.

The game looks interesting .. id like to see what the EU comes up with in MMO's.
I also ended up with a 8800 gts 512 and it pretty much crushes everything atm.
8800 gt 256 also gets some pretty good reviews and might be something you look at

I just built a new system with a 8800gt 512 , love it love it love it.
Ya I got my new monitor this weekend. 22inch widescreen....nice upgrade since I have been gaming with a 17inch for 4yrs. Waiting on my new puter to come this week....Dell XPS 720 quad processor duel vid card slot nividia 8800 gforce gt with 2gigs of ram and I belive a 750wat power supply and plenty of room to grow. First thing I am going to do is install call of duty4 :guns: and see how this puppy runs.

hey what were the specs on the system that didnt dip below 25FPS?
my comp is...
AMD 64 2400
two SLI 7800GTXs 256mb
4GB OCZ plat RAM (case latency 2)
SATA 10k RPM WDHD
Although i want to upgrade to more RAM and better video cards. my big question is will SLI be usefull in this game? would it be good to get two 8800 GTX 512 Mb? Or should i just get one of those 700 Mb cards instead?

They have not mentioned if AoC will support SLI but I will do some digging for you.

hey i looked into it and AoC will support SLI and crossfire. It wont be using physics cards though.
thats cool i was bored looking this stuff up and i am planning my next system. Hopefully i can have it built and running for release of conan in 4 months. Its going to take alot of saving and prep but check it out here is what i am going to build. (after selling some stuff i have laying around and maybe working the street corner.)

The motherboard has a watercooled North Bridge so i am going to install a koolance system on the top of the new lian li case and hook the water cooling to the north bridge and the CPU. I have never used crossfire but i already have a spare SLI setup (not the one i am selling) so i am going to give this crossfire jazz a shot. the cards are naturally slower than the nvidea cards but whatever. you cant beat the price. also to cut prices at release i think i will only have one RAM kit and no monitor. i will just use my other system's monitor. I think i will end up cutting corners like that. to get it going. i may even use the default heatsinks and whatnot instead of setting up the watercooling right away.
Also any suggestions on using 1333 RAM and going to 8GB instead of 1800 RAM at 4Gb? it would cost the same but what would preform better? the damn RAM is the most expensive thing in the system. almost 1000$ in RAM
Ugh...I'm getting a pretty nice computer that will let me play this game..but dunno about the video card since it comes with a Nividea geforce 8400gts...is that ok for AOC?

hey kite i compare everything i buy at http://www.tomshardware.com/
so for instance if you want to see the Graphics cards rating check this chart out http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=1059&model2=1058&chart=275
be aware that new technology dosent hit those charts too fast. like the "ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2" which is supper fast and only 499.99 did i mention it is 1Gb (it has two GPUs each at 512Mb on the one card) that card basically works like two 512Mb cards in crossfire config (Radeon uses crossfire) except this card is 5% faster than the crossfire equivilent.
I am looking on how to cut corners on my computer i will be building and the best way is to get this card for 499$ you could always add a second one and hook them up in crossfire later when the price drops. I found a way to build a computer with the same power as the one i listed above but for about half the price. so it looks like my next comp might end up only costing me 2500$ instead of the 4k one i listed earlier.
If you want to know more about anything like this just ask i have been digging into information about the technologies out there and what is best for gamming.

hahaha hey im just saying if you are upgrading it beats a SLI or Crossfire setup that could run upwords of 800+ dollars. and it preforms with the big dogs (the 8800 ultras and whatnot) the fact that it is 1Gb means nothing really. most of these cards cant even handle that much memory. but it does help keep the card stable in hard times and you dont really have to overclock it because it has extra memory sitting around to help out.
either way i am thinking of just selling my two 7800GTXs and buying two of these and putting them in crossfire. that should be enough of an upgrade to run AoC. maybe even boost my RAM to 4Gb instead of 2Gb. but at the same time i so badly just want to build a new system all together :(
I so badly want to be so much cooler than Xantheous with is 3 freaking monitors :( waaa waaaa waaaa honestly though can you see behind you with that setup ... must look crazy in a cave. 80% wall 20% fun?

Actually I zoom out and I can see the next room and mobs before we get to it. I takes some getting used to but nothing beats it when you do.
BTW: You could have 6 monitors and still never attain my level of coolness. 8)
