I'm not going to lock this thread as I want everyone to post their own thoughts or additions to the history of the city. My views of the history are just that...one of many views.

History of Kintan Naboo

As mayor of Kintan, many people ask me where Kintan came from ...its origins...

I decided to sit down and write out a history of the city.

For many years, guilds like Drow that I am a proud member of were restricted to small unincorporated settlements on various planets. Originally, the Empire gave grants to many of the planets in our galaxy, but as time past, those grants were revoked, and only a few people were left with grandfathered rights to any land not located on Naboo, Corillia, Tatooine, Rori, Talus and Lok. Eventually, the Empire decided that in a time of Civil War, it was easier for the planetary governments to maintain the land rights on their planets and not bog down the Empire with such tasks. As word made its way into the news, many of the settlements determined that the time had come to relocate to more forgiving lands as preparations where made to incorporate with the Planetary Governments.

The beginning
At the time that the news arrived in my guild, I was living in a small settlement just south of the river that the Talus Imperial Outpost had been built on. As a Bounty Hunter at the time, such news didn’t have much interest with me. The guild leaders of Drow began preparations for a city on the island where the majority of the guild lived, many Kilometers to the south of the Outpost. About the same time, a friend of mine in the guild, a tall Wookiee named Cyschli, a Bio-Engineer that lived in the same settlement south of the Imperial Outpost, introduced me to a wealthy Merchant from Coronet name Sarai. Sarai was a leader in the guild Morgukai, a merchant guild that was also looking at starting a city on Naboo. After several weeks, I traveled with Cyschli to the Lake Retreat on Naboo, and traveled by foot into the mountains north of the retreat and into a river valley that the members of Morgukai had just began moving into. The vivid colors in the mountains and the valley below contrasted sharply with the sand dunes of Tatooine I had grown up on and the huge flat plains of Talus I lived on. Meeting with Saari once again, she presented me an offer, as a Bounty hunter I couldn't pass up. She told me that Morgukai was going to create a merchant city in the river valley once the Planetary Government authorized the Incorporation of cities on the planet. The problem was that being merchants, they needed a gunman in town to handle security, and they were willing to pay for the protection. I packed my bags and moved into the valley a few days after the deposit cleared the bank.

Time past as the members of Morgukai began building what they hoped would be a Metropolis. Months past as more and more members of Morgukai drifted in and settled down. I spent most days clearing spiders or the occasional Plains Hunter from the valley our settlement was built in, as well as handling negotiations with Maulers and Borvo thugs. Using my abilities as a Bounty Hunter, both groups quickly learned to leave the settlement alone. Soon word arrived from Theed that the Queen had finally signed the orders allowing the start of incorporation.

The Land Rush!
Many citizens remember the day that Naboo, as well as many other planets opened up the office to register cities. It was a day involving a rush on Architects, a rush on Creature Handlers and a rush on unclaimed land. The Leaders in Morgukai worked together to insure all was ready and shortly after the office opened, our first mayor, Sahra, began construction of the City Hall. The outpost was named Kintan. The Mayor officially placed me in command of the Kintan Police Department, and I began recruiting members for the department. After commissioning a uniform from the local Armor smith, I contact some of my guild mates on Talus. It seemed that our guild had not faired so well on our island, and another guild we were neighbors with had taken control of the land. Some of the members moved far north in hopes of creating another city, while a handful moved to Kintan to help me start the Police Department.

The mayor created a city council made up of Morgukai leaders and added me as the Police Captain to the council during the first week of the city. I wasn’t much of a politician so I spent most time recruiting and training new recruits into the Police Department, as well as advising the other council members on issues that involved the security of the city. Time passed, and the Drow city on Talus struggled as more and more people left Talus for the big cities on the 3 major planets. Soon all of Drow left Talus, and arrived in Kintan to form a partnership with Morgukai in running the city. The city reached Metropolis level, and kept getting bigger. Soon other small guilds joined us as well as some citizens that were not even members of a guild. The city became known for quality crafters and safety. Kintan held the first Wookiee life day party in our Sector, and many people came from all over the galaxy.

The Stability
As Kintan hit Metropolis, and our citizens moved to over 100, we became a thriving commerce center. With a strip of merchant tents carrying many wares, we became a hub for the merchants in town. Armor smiths and Weapon smiths enjoyed our research, the warriors of the Empire and the Rebel Alliance enjoyed the neutrality and openess to all that visited. Sadly, this didn't last.

The conflict
One guild living in the city was determined to take over and replace the mayor and the council. As time passed, members on the council became difficult to track down. Commerce was keeping them occupied, and the city was once again on the shoulders of the mayor, who relied on me to maintain everyday issues more and more. During this time, the small guild, Black Lotus, dropped an Imperial Base across our borders. Morgukai, being a guild of crafters had a wide range of members, and the outpost immediately created conflict of views on what the city should be. As an Imperial, and a member of an Imperial guild, my leaders as well as myself were glad to see an Imperial presence so close to home, but the base conflicted with the city charter, and negotiations were opened, and meetings were held to hash out the problems created. Just as the negotiations were pulling together, rebel
spies in the city contacted a rebel terrorist cell on Naboo who infiltrated the base and destroyed it. This brought the conflict of the civil war right into our homes.

The mayor was framed as being sympathetic to the rebel cause by Black Lotus leadership, and they turned over evidence to the Imperial authorities that the mayor had seized a large quantity of Wookiee Life Day Orbs. The Imperial authority then arrested Sahra and sent her to Kessel. Black Lotus then brought in a person from outside the city to campaign for mayor. At first, the city was in shock. The city was under direct Imperial control. The leaders of Drow met to discuss leaving. Several weeks after the arrest, word arrived to me by way of an old
contact in the underworld of how a few members in Black Lotus had framed the mayor. This evidence was exposed, and the members of Drow, upset at how the mayor had been wrongly accused, joined together and I stepped forward and ran for mayor backed by the Drow Council. As the only member of the original city council, I sent out an email to all the citizens asking for their support. The leaders in Black Lotus were outraged. Threats were made from both sides, and Black Lotus left town when the voting showed their puppet mayoral candidate was losing at the
polls.

The Change
Upon taking office, I dissolved the council, lowered taxes, and put into place a major reorganization of the city that took many months. The city officially became an Imperial city. The City officially became the home of Drow and is under Drow leadership. I began to work with the Queen's court to establish the city as a major city in the politics of the planet. With a major push on recruiting, we have always managed to keep the population it the 70s and 80s, moving between Metropolis and City more times than I care to count. I work had at keeping the city organized, and occasionally scheduling events like the 2nd annual Wookiee life day party we held last month. Many new merchants have arrived, some of the galaxy's best. All striving to make a better place for
themselves and help me keep the city open for all that need it's shelter. It is a challenge, but Kintan is such a part of my life now, I could never imagine leaving it.

The Future of Kintan
I am now working with the mayor of our neighboring town in hopes of helping them, our sister city rebuild as we did. An alliance of sorts now exists that revolves around adding more enjoyment to our citizens. I hope to expand this alliance to other cities on Naboo. It is a daunting taks, but I'm sure many mayors out there will agree...a daunting task is what we do each day.

The Remembrance
I am no longer a Bounty Hunter, having turned in my guns for Stim packs. Cyschli is a still a member of my guild, and a good friend. He is one of the few from the early days of my life. I have not seen members of Morgukai in many months....having been scattered in the Imperial investigation of the first mayor. Drow has continued to rise in strength. Having a city like Kintan to call home allows a guild such as ours to have a solid foundation to build on. Both work off of each other to build the other.

The Morgukai Guild Hall still stands in the Northwest part of the city, a silent monument, a reminder to the very few of us original settlers of the city in this river valley north of the Queen's Lake Retreat on Naboo. The
Orbs, once used to frame our founding mayor, now sit in the City hall, a reminder, at least to me; of the many friends I have met...and lost in my days living in the city known as Kintan.

My name is Anika Mon'Sulu, The 3rd Guild Leader of Drow in the Radiant Galaxy. The second mayor of Kintan. A proud member of the Royal Queen's court of Naboo, and Imperial Army Officer. None of which I would be without those that I call friend.

Thanks members of Drow and Kintan, may both continue to prosper. /salute

(yeah....I was bored....I have been asked by a few people wanting to know about the city, and finally had a bit of free time.)

I remeber our old place on Talus, it was a quest in itself to get there. I came to DROW vis 2 friends, Keegan and Choawth When i frist started i use to hang out in a outdoor cafe in deric eventually they invited me to imperium. Thats when i join DROW and made my life living on Talus. When it was decided to move to Naboo i remeber running form Lake Reteat to Kintan and yes it was as you discribed runing over the last mountian and seeing kintan on the bottom of the valley.

We have had many great times here. I miss alot of people how have left Sarai was a good friend and it was shame whta happend to her. BL was nice at first but soon became trouble. Things are now more stable we have many now people in town, alot more around kintan as well. There is still alot to do but Kintan is here to stay.

wow, reading this sure brings back some memories, many good ones and a few bad, the cantina incident and the banning of sahra being those bad ones... I'm glad to hear that the Morgukai guild hall is still standing. I still remember that day when cities went live and we all rushed to get the city hall down. I logged in for the first time in a long time the other day, and was glad to see that DROW is maintain the wonderful city that I named and helped found. I'm happy that it is good hands. Thank you all. I'm still trying to decided if I'd like to play swg again or not, if I do it wouldn't be full time, but I would love to make my home in Kintan.

Now the very FIRST DROW city, that was an interesting day for sure...the rush to get the first City Hall built, the long journey from Tat to Talus (all pre ships and vehicles, mind you!), only to find that our precious city location had been vilely stolen from under our noses.

Certainly the move to Kintan was one of the best things this guild could have ever done!

I remeber our little town on talus having to run from the town to the imp outpost only to end getting there the quick way via the cloner.

You forgot when stormgeald was going to overthrow the city and take it for his own evil ways. The most powerful jedi there was.
